" Inspired by a never-ending thirst for knowledge, I plan to use this Fellowship to increase my social impact in my community. The skills I gain from this Fellowship will help me make a more tangible and SDG-aligned impact in these communities. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Segregation at Source

The project is composed of three basic components. Each feature will be implemented initially at our college campus, and later at several other offices and schools around the Delhi NCR region of India. The following are the components:

1. Implementing a segregated bin system to make it easier to gather dry recyclable items separately. We are already organising a weekly collection drive for non-biodegradable dry recyclable waste at our campus to compensate for the lack of segregated bins.

2. Conducting awareness sessions to educate the public about the 'why' and 'how to' of waste segregation and the magnitude of the issue climate change poses, as well as the four planet and disc request wen to do trash segregation at their homes. Additionally, we will be teaching trash management throughout these workshops, as the majority of Indians are unaware of how to do so.

3. Establishing a link between the institutions in which we perform our initiative and a recycling organisation. We have already contacted a recycling organisation in NOIDA that is willing to pick up dry recyclable material collected via the separated bin system in regions where we wish to conduct our initiative. The waste that we gather at college gets recycled by this organisation. We will be contacting additional organisations to assist us in other regions.
