Symbiosis International (Deemed University) Noida | Noida, India | Advancing SDG 13 & UNAI 9

" The Millennium Fellowship, in my opinion, will give me the platform required to create awareness about Plastic Waste Recycling and General Waste Segregation, which is primarily the goal of my teammates and I. Moreover, this Fellowship will provide me with necessary skills required to execute the cause and assist me in forming meaningful connections with a vast network of people who are working towards similar goals. Being a part of a global network of pioneers and trailblazers would further the cause that my Fellow teammates and I are tirelessly working towards and it would truly be an honour to gain insights and the expertise of people already in the field, all of which would only be possible through a programme such as this. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Segregation at Source
Our project has three primary steps; each of which will be first carried out within our college campus and then at various offices and schools that are located in Delhi, NCR.
The steps are as follows:
1. We will be introducing a segregated bin system which will make it easier to separately collect dry and recyclable material. In fact, we have an ongoing non-biodegradable waste collection drive at our college on a weekly basis, making up for the lack of segregated bins at the college campus.
2. We will conduct awareness sessions wherein we will make the audience understand the ‘how’ and the ‘why’ one should use segregated bins, properly. We will convey the gravity of the threat of climate change and request our audience members to carry out waste segregation at their houses. Further, e-waste management will also be taught in these sessions.
3. We will connect institutions where we conduct our project in to recycling organisations. We have already gotten in touch with a NOIDA-based recycling agency, who are willing to collect dry recyclable waste collected via the segregated bin system from areas where we are interested in conducting the project. The waste that we will collect from college will be sent to this agency for recycling. We will also be reaching out to more organisations as well.
