" I am currently holding only a dream in my heart. Being a Millennium Fellow will arm me with the expertise required to make that dream a reality. No matter how ambitious you are, you need direction and guidance to cover for your inexperience. Through this Fellowship I hoping to find that guidance to achieve what I have dreamed. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Say Yes To Cups

Our project “Say Yes to Cups” aims to replace sanitary napkins and tampons with menstrual cups as the primary menstrual hygiene project on a mass scale. To achieve this goal we are going to going to take two approaches:
Ground-level research on the comparative analysis of use of sanitary napkins and menstrual cups in the community.
Sensitizing and spreading awareness in the target communities on the amount of menstrual waste generated and the harmful effects of that waste on the environment and water bodies.

About the Millennium Fellow

Nishtha Kumar is a bright, hard-working, and dedicated law student at Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, Symbiosis (Deemed) University. She was born in Gaya in the state of Bihar in India and raised in many different cities all throughout India. She has seen the world in juxtaposition ever since she was young. Hailing from one of the poorest states in modern-day India where girls still face a lot of discrimination and pressures of early marriage has filled her with immense gratitude towards her parents who are raising her to be a strong and independent woman. Being raised in many metropolitan cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai have given her a vision of a modern India and what young children back in her village could lead a life-like. Being extremely privileged to study in big cities but also facing discrimination in the village has given her a sense of responsibility to share her privilege and uplift, others as much as she can.
