Sciences Po Le Havre | Le Havre, France | Advancing SDG 14 & UNAI 4
" What if we lose water? My enthusiasm for the Millennium Fellowship stems from my current concerns about the environment and water contamination. I hope that being a Millennium Fellow will allow me to sharpen my skills and network with global advocators dedicated to advancing sustainable development goals. Gathering the creativity and determination of the younger generation will also bring more attention to global water resources and marine conservation. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Ocean Through Art
Ocean Conservation Through Art
As we have already mentioned in our submitted social impact tour report, our project attempts to arouse people’ awareness of environmental protection, especially through the creativity and collaboration efforts of the younger generation. That is why, our main targeted group are youngsters and students in our neighborhood, specifically Le Havre, as well as students around the world who are currently studying nearby water source access such as a bay or port. Especially, the project focuses on SDG number 6, 13, 14 with the issues related to climate change, under water, marine conservation and quality of the water.
The aim is to hold at least 4 online meetings within 3 months and plan this art and design project in Le Havre and their cities with people from all over the world, the artwork itself can be in any form, whether in digital art or physical workshop. In the end, we intend to present it in the form of a micro-movie, including the whole process from planning to actual implementation. We will be encouraging participants to start their work on the artwork in their own city and offer help as much as possible if we can.
Our project initially consists of conducting a series of exhibitions of artworks related to the protection of the environment, specifically the protection of maritime water quality, soliciting ideas from students of all ages at Le Havre if it is possible. During the three months, I have conducted 2 informative sessions and one workshop in person in one of the secondary schools in Le Havre (College Montesquieu) for targeted groups of pupils between the ages 12 - 15. In the upcoming months, I am going to continue to conduct informative sessions in forms of short movies, pictures, amusing information form as well as hands-on activities such as creating earrings from the litter from the sea or convey a real simulation of the water pollution in the bowl. At the end of the next semester, as we demonstrated in the beginning, we would like to organize an exhibition of artwork and a small discussion forum with workshops and sustainable DIY sessions as a one day activity (conference) in the french college. The exhibition will be around the celebration of the day of Earth. This final exhibition would also illustrate the several months project with the local impact in my university city Le Havre alongside with the success of other students around the world such as in Canada or Ireland.
