" This is because this program challenges and celebrates bold student leadership advancing the Sustainable Development Goals on campus and in communities. The skills I will gain from the Fellowship will make my social impact on schools and communities more tangible and aligned to UN SDG goals. I am more than thrilled to empower and educate my Fellow students on the importance of maintaining a sustainable environment and planting trees. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: OKOA EARTH

My project is all about saving the earth (OKOA is a Swahili word that means SAVE). My aim is to lead a campaign in forests in planting many trees as soon as possible, marketing products made by businesses dedicated to preventing deforestation and buying recycled products.

About the Millennium Fellow

Chelangat Mercy is a 4th-year student at Strathmore university. She was born in Kericho, Kenya. She loves nature and outdoor activities. Her best channel on TV is NatGeo wild since she gets to see and learn more about wild animals and the importance of trees and nature as a whole. Her favorite pet is a dog, and her favorite wild animal is a she-cheetah since she feels she acts and behaves like a cheetah. She jumped at the chance to apply for the millennial Fellowship when she saw the open posting and through the Fellowship, she will educate students on the importance of trees and sustainability.
