About the Millennium Fellow
Olivia Marrero is a sophomore Environmental Molecular Science, Entomology, and Spanish student at The Ohio State University, OH, USA. Olivia is passionate about chemistry, ecology, soil science, and environmental sustainability. She's fascinated by the intersectionality between equity/social justice and environmental conservation. Olivia's current fascination with wetland and mangrove ecology and management stems from her recent study abroad trip to Cairns, Australia's Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. On her trip, she dove head first into studying and promoting the importance of wetlands and climate change mitigation. While Olivia's personal research project specifically revolves around soil remediation and sustainable latex production, she hopes to be able to combine her love for wetlands, soil, water systems, and chemistry to increase food security in Columbus' food desert. After she graduates, Olivia plans to begin the long journey of pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry.
