" I am excited to join the Millennium Fellowship to gain valuable leadership skills and be apart of a community of students that are passionate about changing the world. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: They Won't, We Will: Transdisciplinary Approach to a Better Future

Our project is called They Won’t, We Will and focuses on SDG number 8, promoting sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. Our project covers the basis of many of the SDG’s, like 10 reduced inequalities and 16 on peace and justice, but we feel number 8 is the most all encompassing. We will be creating and hosting a festival that is centered around a concert but will have other arts and clothing trading components as well. This will bring together students on campus and empower them to solve and reach for the UN’s SDG goals but by taking a transdisciplinary approach and thinking outside the box, rather than through a single minded manner which is not proving to be sufficient enough to meet the goals and objectives we should. Our goal is to promote self-reliance and community building rather than petitioning the government to change policy.

About the Millennium Fellow

Paige Campbell was born in Laguna Beach California, grew up in San Clemente California, and is now a third year student at UC Davis. As a high school student she kept busy involving herself in things like: playing on the US Devolopmental soccer team and varsity lacrosse, volunteering at F.A.M. food bank, being a project intern for the California State Parks restoration and endagerment programs, working on a cliamte change research expedition in the Peruvian Amazon, being a campaign intern for US House of Representatives District #49, etc. In college she continued to be involved with her school and community by joining the UCD club lacrosse and soccer team, volunteering in student government on a school-wide sustainable infrastructure project, and interning for the Orange County Environmental Resources sector on three month water quality project.
