Millennium Fellowship Project: Memoirs from Gaia
‘Memoirs from Gaia’ is a story-telling project, the aim of which is to give life to the climate debate in a way that aggregate numbers and data cannot. By collecting personal memoirs, anecdotes, and interviews from people around the world, this initiative is intended to shed light on the unjust reality of climate change. Recognising climate inequities is an important step in understanding and addressing the challenges presented by the climate crisis. As such, the project is a means to an end; it is intended to spark a debate and to facilitate for a collective conversation that encourages action. The project takes the form of a podcast series, although I later hope to issue a written collection of these narratives.
I hope to pin climate change as an issue of injustice – it is storyline I am eager to tell.
About the Millennium Fellow
Iben Vagle is studying law at University College London and Columbia University. As an international dual degree student, she will be amongst the youngest candidates for joint qualification in two of the leading jurisdictions in the world. With a deep affinity for environmental law, Iben draws on experiences in the public interest, government, and private sectors to advocate for climate justice. Iben joins the Millennium Fellowship to personalise the climate crisis by bringing local problems to the global community.
