" " The chance to share a platform with so many young minds having a single aim of bringing positive change in the world is once in a lifetime opportunity for me. The very idea of acceptance and support from such a strong brand of people will help our organisation to create better impact and sustenance for people.
I do the work I do, because growing up, i realized what mattered more, was doing. No matter how small our contribution appears to be, it does create a change. And this change only compounds to bring the positive shift we all are wanting to see. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Safe Haven

The Safe Haven India is a youth-run non-profit organization where youth from different walks of life have joined hands to create awareness about different social evils that exist in the society. We have a team of students from the Core Team to various volunteers even spanning different cities outside Delhi where we have taken up several Projects which have a specific goal attached to them. We have selected specific problems and started with choosing three Projects at a time. Our agenda is to choose one and act on it yearly or dual yearly.

Right now the three running Projects are Astitva (to empower different gender and sexual identities who have been at the wrong end of majoritarian and unfair treatment), Shakti(to spread awareness about violence against gender and sexual minorities) and Humraah (to organize donation drives for under-privileged women and children, sanitation workers, transgender folks).

About the Millennium Fellow

Ananta Narayani is a third year Zoology hons undergrad student at Ramjas College, University of Delhi. Her personal experiences led her to start an organisation in the small town of Ranchi with professional doctors to bring awareness on mental health in the small. Inspired by the quantum of change that small organisations can bring, she is one of the Founding members of The Safe Haven through which she aims to uplift marginalised women and children of their suffering. She is into reading novels with strong female characters and aims to create a world where women stand strong and powerful.
