" "It starts with you!" This phrase is quite simple but have deeper implications. It is easier to counsel others, but to follow your advice is difficult. Being here with folks who took it upon themselves to do something better for the world would be a great learning experience for me. I am sure to learn a lot which would in turn help me to give back to our society. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Afterlives of Rape Survivors

Our project is here to highlight the afterlives of a rape victim to our society. A woman's life is full of discrimination faced by them due to their gender and hardships faced by them because society has set up the rules for us. On top of that, a rape victim is perceived as impure in our society whereas there is nothing wrong that the ordon has done. Hence, we are here to change that perspective throw light on the actuality of the situation. We are here to make young minds understand the complexity of the topic and at the same time we want toeducate them on how to treat the rape victims equally and for this, we would show a module, hold a webinar, host Nukad Natak, screen the documentaries, organize defense class sessions with college societies and hold a fundraiser, organize fun activities like busting myths and stereotypes that women have faced for a long time.
In addition to this, we will concentrate on topics like sex education, sex assault which are disregarded in our education system. We will also provide them with helpline numbers and teach the legal process for justice as it will be beneficial to avoid rape- if these topics are taught specially to the young minds.
