" "Health may be overlooked for the pursuit of wealth but being healthy is wealth, I believe we all can be healthy. Being a part of the Millennium Fellowship will enhance my skill. The skills I gain from the Millennium Fellowship will make my social impact on schools, rural, and urban communities more concrete and align with the UNAI principles and SDGs. I am excited to increase my eagerness towards improving health." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Bridging the gap between health facilities and rural area.

This project addresses the sustainable development goal 3 of the United Nations (Good Health and Well-being.) this is to ensure healthy living and promote well-being at all ages. The concept is to tackle the problems associated with delivering health care to rural areas through a health sensitization program.
Most times people living in rural regions find it difficult to access quality health care. So, by bridging the gap I mean to educate rural residents on how to stay healthy and make use of the health facilities available to them.
I worked with 1 general hospital in the Kwere local government area, where I conducted a medical outreach and kept in touch to know how well rural residents use the hospital, how to improve the regular visits to the hospital, and ways to prevent malaria and typhoid that is endemic in the area.

About the Millennium Fellow

Chukwukaodinaka Esther is a young vibrant Pharmacy student at Usmanu Danfodiyo University. She was born and grew up in Sokoto, Nigeria. Esther has always been passionate about making an impact on lives through advocacy for health and well-being. This zeal was made manifest due to Esther's sister's ill health and various encounter with people who suffer due to a lack of health care facilities around them.
Presently in her university years, she has volunteered with various organizations during their health outreach programs; through her wonderful teamwork, she plans to continue and hopefully organize health outreach as well. Esther desires to be in a professional field, where she could develop this advocacy and give her contributions to the development of the United Nations' Sustainable Goals.
