Millennium Fellowship Project: Young Antimicrobial Stewards

Young Antimicrobial stewards(YAS) is a student-led organisation that aims to tackle the menace caused by antimicrobial resistance by bridging the knowledge deficit in sub-Saharan Africa, hereby promoting SDG4(Quality education) and SDG 3 (Good health and well-being). By 2030, the youth in Africa are expected to constitute 42% of the global youth. As young antimicrobial stewards, we are aimed at equipping African youths with the key knowledge needed to solve the global burden of antimicrobial resistance.

To achieve this, we organized a 3-day webinar themed "Youth participation in curbing Antimicrobial resistance" which reached out to 200+ youths from different countries in Africa. We also organized a physical outreach at the Caliphate college of health technology, Sokoto. A school with students from different fields of health sciences, including community health.

Millennium fellowship also gave me the rudimentary proficiency to organise a multidisciplinary event on my campus integrating poetry, drama and scientific panel discussion.
