I believe in equipping young ones with the right knowledge to impact and add value to their world rather than worsen the plight of the world by making education accessible and attractive to all children around the world. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Gem foundation
Gem foundation is an up and coming foundation I am establishing with colleagues who comes from the same community and now finds themselves in the various universities of the country.
We have come together to realize the needs of our people and though we being students with little or no support but want to assist in anyway possible.
As tertiary students, we have a lot of influence on the folk and more especially on the kids. The problem we have identified is school dropouts. Over 99% of the kids don't further their education after the basics and senior high level education. Teenage pregnancy among the girls and drug abuse among the boys is getting out of hands. We have realized the problem being lack of motivation and we want to be their source of motivation as a foundation in all facet to assist these once to also climb higher in their education to be responsible citizens in the near future.
The interest of Gem foundation will be to provide counsel and motivation to this kids by visiting their various schools to engage them in talks, seminars and videos shows to help them realize their potentials to overcome the influence of their immediate environment.
We will be providing them with educational materials like exercise books, backpacks, uniforms, pens and other relevant learning materials to aid them in their studies.
We have realized the truancy and lack of internst in education by this kids due to lack of this educational materials ad want to assist them in that regard.
We will also provide them with Literacy, numeracy and Technological literacy skills and other social relevant skills like environment protection.
Most of this kids don't even know how to read basics words. We believe this will help them realize their potentials and make them have the confidence needed to soar higher in life.
About the Millennium Fellow
Isaac Arthur is a young curious, energetic and respectful Bsc. ICT student of the University of Education, Winneba Ghana. I sac was born in Ghana and currently resides in Ghana. For as long a he could remember, Isaac has been passionate about bringing children on street back to classroom and assisting children in deprived areas to access higher education. He believes in the power of education, the right to education as the basic right of every child and therefore making it available and pleasant to every child. Through out his life as a boy raised from a deprived area, he has always been using every opportunity to address and advocate for street children getting back to classroom. He has successfully organized other colleagues from the same locality he was brought up who have now sail through to the university like him to form a foundation to tackle this issue of children in deprived areas accessing higher education in his district.
The team is looking forward to expand in capacity to resolve this kind of issues globally and provide his own contribution in the development of the United Nations sustainable Goals.
