Millennium Fellowship Project: Pre-hospital Emergency care Training (PET)
The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Training (PET) project is led by Millennium Fellow Julianah Adebisi and Millennium Fellow Precious Akingbule. The PET project addresses the issue of pre-hospital emergency care ignorance and incorrectly performed first aid response in Nigeria, which had 0 pre-hospital emergency response to road traffic accident victims over a four-year period, according to a research article report. The project aims to engage University of Ibadan students, and eventually the community, in changing this narrative by training them on how to properly handle emergency cases and transfer to the hospital. During the Millennium Fellowship Period (August to December 2022), the PET project will host two online webinars, a two-day workshop, and various social media awareness campaigns using infographics and videos on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. These events would teach students and the general public on how to respond to a wide range of emergencies, such as trauma, seizures, loss of consciousness, choking, and burns. We aim to reach approximately 200 people across all events.
