Millennium Fellowship Project: Pre-hospital Emergency care Training (PET)

The PET project

PROJECT TITLE: Pre-hospital Emergency care Training (PET)

DURATION: October - December 2022

MODE: Webinars, Workshops and Social media awareness campaigns

MILLENIUM FELLOWS: Adebisi Julianah and Akingbule Precious

The Pre-hospital Emergency Training project aims to improve the knowledge and response to emergency situations, thereby improving the overall outcome of trauma patients.

This project was organized by Millenium fellow Adebisi Julianah, who served as project director, and Millenium fellow Akingbule Precious, who served as operations manager and secretary. We also collaborated with other key individuals, such as our graphics designer, Miss. Saba Fikemi, and our social media manager, Miss. Adeyemo Oreoluwa, as well as student organizations and hospital departments (The Department of Anesthesia.)

The project included:

1. Two online teaching sessions

2. Two physical workshop trainings, and

3. Social media awareness campaigns.

The project was publicized through various campus organizations, and we were able to reach approximately 182 people, with social media campaigns reaching even more.

This is the pilot project, which will be followed by a campus tour of a few selected departments and organizations at the University of Ibadan in February of next year.

We also intend to establish a student club where additional training will be provided with the goal of becoming certified as emergency responders with government-registered bodies.

About the Millennium Fellow

Akingbule Precious Oreoluwa is a motivated and brilliant Nigerian dental student in her fifth year at University of Ibadan. She has always been interested in public health advocacy and, more recently, sustainable economic growth. This motivation was a result of Precious' experiences in medical school and her ongoing commitment to social causes that promote public health and sustainable economic growth. She is currently a member of two philanthropic organizations in which she actively participates and plans to do even more in the future through her own innovations
