" The Millennium Fellowship is a platform and a network that allows for the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded people at a global scale for real change.
I wish to do this work because we have to. The world around us is changing and we must find a sustainable way to progress forward into a brighter future. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Self-Sufficient Housing For Impoverished People
There is an unoccupied, abandoned space on our campus. It looks as though it once was a dormitory but now it’s just blighted property. I have an idea to create a prototype for a self-sufficient modern home that could be used to house, feed and provide clean water to the needy. It sounds like a big pipe dream but I believe it’s possible to implement at a low cost and once it’s completed - it would generate an excess of food, water and electricity. The excess could be shared with others in need on campus or stored for long term use. This location is ideal because it is an existing structure that needs remodeling in order to modernize to a self-sustaining home. If it becomes scalable, this solution could be brought to under-privileged communities, especially those with food and water shortages.
