" The state of the environment in developing countries is an eyesore. I believe this can be changed with proper advocacy and proactive measures. A clean and safe environment where human beings and other living organisms can live free from environmental pollution and hazards is my utmost goal. I believe the skills I’m going to learn from the Millennium Fellowship will help with achieving this goal and up my social impact game. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Plasti-C-ycle

The Plasti-C-ycle project is an independent project led by Millennium Fellow Yusuf Aderibigbe. Plasti-C-ycle aims to further integrate the concept of "Circular economy " into society. The project responds to solid materials pollution in our immediate environments mainly plastic wastes. Inappropriate usage and disposal of plastic waste is a real menace to our present-day society.
The project aims to sensitize and educate elementary and high school students and teachers about the concept of reuse, recycle and reduce. They will be enlightened on the effect of indiscriminate usage and disposal of plastic waste, how it contributes to climate change and proactive steps that should be taken to reduce and cancel out those effects. The Plasti-C-ycle project will host a physical event that consists of a sensitization program and a brief workshop session on reusing plastics. The project aims to engage 50-150 people for the event.
