Millennium Fellowship Project: Tides of Hope
Tides Of Hope (T.O.H) is an independent project led by Millennium Fellow Oamen Jacinta. T.O.H addresses Ocular health and Mental health issues. The project aims to raise awareness on Preventable blindness and importance of eye health. The project will also focus on raising awareness on Mental health; the various illnesses, coping skills and strategies to ensure adequate maintenance of mental health.
During the Millennium Fellowship Period (August- December 2022), Project T.O.H will host a minimum of three events, which include two online events and a physical event.
These events will consist of an ocular health webinar, a mental health webinar and a physical ocular sensitization and visual screening outreach to schools.
We are aiming to reach about 200 people combined across events.
About the Millennium Fellow
Jacinta Osebhahiemen Oamen is a young, tenacious, Optometry student at the University of Benin. She was born in Nigeria, resides in Edo state and is currently studying in Benin city . Jacinta is passionate about eradicating poverty,gender bias and empowering the girl child. She has shown this passion in the way she volunteers at various organizations and organizes various projects to empower the girl child. She also Co-founded an NGO in her state to tackle poverty which she hopes to continue as her contribution to the development of the United Nations’ Sustainable Goals.
