Millennium Fellowship Project: Safe Space
Safe Space is a project that aims to teach and show young girls with in the age 15-21 years about their sexual health. It will cover sex, menstruation, STDs, how to use/choosing Contraception, Breast and Cervical Cancer, puberty and so much more.
Safe space will provide a safe space (pun intended) where Sex, Sexual health, consent, bodily autonomy, topics not often discussed in the Nigerian Society can be talked about without judgement, or shame, or side eyes. In safe space, Young girls/Women, will feel at peace with their bodies and sexual health.
The main aim of safe space is to erase the hole created by lack of adequate Sexual health education and the policing of the bodies of young girls & women. Empowering them to make the best Sexual and Reproductive decisions for themselves.
Additionally, we hope to create a ripple effect, where they can discuss the knowledge earned with their friends, daughters, neighbors without shame or prejudice thereby creating a society where these topics can finally be spoken out loud.
