" "I love to create awareness on the harmful effects of using recreational drugs, especially among young people. Creating this awareness helps people understand how and why recreational drugs can speedily affect every part of their lives, without them even noticing it." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Negative Effects of Recreational Drug Abuse

This project, the Negative Effects of Recreational Drug Abuse (aka The Substance Abuse Awareness Program) is aimed at educating young people, especially secondary school students, on the reasons why they should stay away from recreational drugs, and how they can avoid falling victim to substance use/abuse.
This project also teaches young people how they can identify friends/relatives who use recreational drugs and the much they can do to help them.

About the Millennium Fellow

Chiazor Praise Asomba is a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Chiazor was born in Delta, lives in Lagos, and presently studies in Enugu; all states in Nigeria. As a young person growing up in Nigeria, Chiazor has seen firsthand the harm substance use/abuse causes to the younger generation. Knowing that such harm could be avoided, Chiazor gave herself the challenge of educating young people on the use and effects of recreational drugs, and how they can keep drug addiction at bay.
A member of the Professional Society for Health Society and Outcomes (ISPOR-HEOR) at UNN, she has been a part of several health awareness campaigns on campus; and plans to be a part of many more.
Through the help of the Millennium Fellowship, Chiazor hopes to create more awareness of recreational drug use and make her contribution to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
