" The opportunity to work with bright and visionary young people driven by the desire to make the world a better place by creatively solving societal issues is something I greatly anticipate in this Millennium Fellowship .
My encounters with young people who lack the requisite knowledge and support in addressing the various mental health challenges they faced made me determined to not only provide this knowledge but to provide the necessary support they desire.
With the knowledge and skills, I acquire from this Millennium Fellowship , I hope to increase my competence in addressing health and societal issues creatively. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Young People and Their Mental Health

In 2020 universities in my country were shut down and alot of my friends were complaining and asking about depression on their WhatsApp status so I decided to check what it's all about. As time progress I discovered there was a lack of awareness about mental health issues and some were even attributed to spiritual forces. I was leading Youth Neuroscience Association of Nigeria University of chapter and started incorporating mental health awareness in our discussions. I am working towards hosting a 1-day event in October 2nd to commemorate this year's world suicide day because just this year we've had about 2 to 3 cases of attempted suicide with only one survivor. I want to use this platform as an avenue to amplify our work on creating more awareness on mental health issues among young people in Nigeria
