" Having had low self-esteem which led to me having imposter syndrome and social anxiety disorder, I knew the struggles and wanted to help every student with a similar condition. Hence, the birth of Student's Mental Health Advocates(SMA). I can't wait to work on the project in the Millennium Fellowship as I will get the necessary skills in taking my social impact to the next level and also have a successful project. I look forward to the next few months "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Students Mental Health Advocates
Students Mental Health Advocates is a platform birthed out of the need to attend to the mental health of students within the university community. WHO estimates that fewer than 10 percent of mentally ill Nigerians have access to the care they need. This also applies to students within the campus community. Quite a several students within
the community have gone through one mental illness or the other but have no one they could speak up to or no campus student group they could express themselves to. SMA comes to fill the gap. The Students Mental health advocates is dedicated to educating, providing support and creating awareness on the mental health of students within the university community.
