Millennium Fellowship Project: Career Deck

Growing up in a society where the only recognized and respected professions include: medicine, nursing, accounting, banking, engineering, Law and sometimes mass communication. At least one of the above listed career options, is every parents dream for their children; anything outside that, is considered a waste of time, effort and resources.
A Career survey which carried out on final year high school students in the city of Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria revealed that only about 13% of these students knew of any other career path asides the ones listed above.
Little wonder when you walk up to a High school student and ask what their career aspirations are; they will definitely begin to spill "I want to be a Doctor, a Nurse, a Lawyer... without the slightest idea of what exactly these career options entails.
With a longing desire to ensure that these generation of Students are well equipped with informations with regards career options; I began to reach out to high school students in my community, giving them an opportunity to actually share their view about career and get to know different career options available and the requirement to excel in each. With a goal to help impact and mentor about 5 students in each academic session; and having about 90% of them, making great exploits in their chosen career now. I decided to embark on a project titled "Let's Talk Career" which aims at reaching out to high school students in Yaba community to guide them to take the right career decision via Career fairs and Career Mentorship platforms.
