" Being a member of the Millennium Fellowship has given me the opportunity to build my skills in communication, leadership and teamwork. Not only will I get a certificate of participation but it will also make me fulfilled that I was able to make changes in people's lives. I believe that my participation in this program will continue to drive my interests in volunteering activities and in other charity organisations. It would also be impactful for me as I will be able to build connections, share and listen to ideas that will help me in future. I'm thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Eat A Fruit A Day
The project Eat A Fruit A Day centered on promoting our well-being. It focused on how we could prevent certain diseases if we indulge in the habit of eating fruits and vegetables daily in adequate amounts. This led to educating them about the daily recommended intake of fruits and vegetables and how they could measure with they eat by demonstrating to them a prototype.
The project also explains the health benefits of fruits and vegetables, it revealed in-depth knowledge of cancer risk prevention with fruit consumption as it contains a lot of antioxidants.
My target audience was students in secondary school, hence it was important they understood the relationship between fruit and vegetable consumption with memory recall.
Furthermore, we discussed the composition of fruits and vegetables and the ways they could be consumed. We also discussed the dangerous combination of fruits and how they could be harmful.
In summary, the project was interactive since they already knew the basics. The goal was to motivate them to eat them daily, and to take them important as they do for other classes of foods.
