" Being in the Millennium Fellowship has given me an avenue to make social impact in my community which I believe will substantially change people's perspective about mental illnesses and also provide support to a lot of people with these conditions.I am excited to improve on attributes such as empathy, team building, humility, organizing and decision-making which will launch me to lofty heights in my career and also advocacy goals in the future . "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The mentis project

The mentis project is bordered on eradicating the stigma attached to mental ailments in my country. There is still a lot of stigma because many believe mental illnesses are caused by spiritual forces.I'll achieve this by sensitizing people especially young people about the different mental illnesses and how to identify them.I will also make them comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions so as to detect mental disorders if any.
I would also want to be a mediator between mental health specialists (such as psychiatrists and psychologists) and patients through which they can get standard consultation at reduced or no cost.
Lastly,I would advocate for the government to care for schizophrenics roaming the streets through this project.
