" As a Millennium Fellow, I will be challenged to stretch myself and my thinking. This will help me bring my ideas and passions to fruition.

There's nothing more fulfilling than helping my community and making an impact. These project will increase my capacity and competence. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Plastic Project

The Plastic Project's aim is to educate business owners and high school (senior secondary school) students within Uyo, Nigeria on proper management of plastics and the dire consequences when mismanaged. Nigeria is home to 2.5 Million tonnes of this waste which ends up in landfills, beaches, water bodies and sewers.

Two business owners will be chosen from the manufacturing sector of the community. The goal is to teach them cost effective ways to manage waste, recycle plastics and collaborating to create lasting eco and profit friendly solutions. This will be a 4 part interactive session. The team will continue to follow up.

The students will be taught a 5 part course to educate them on the mindful consumption and how they can make a difference. From September through November, we plan to reach out to at least 400 students from 3 schools in our community.
