Millennium Fellowship Project: ON EQUAL SCALE

On Equal Scale
On equal scale is an independent project led by Millennium fellow Samuel U. Umechukwu.

Sustainable development cannot be said to have been effectively achieved if a certain part of the world's population is left behind.
There is a strong need to correct the imbalance of the gender scale, and this is the very reason that necessitated this project.

On equal scale is a project that
examines the challenges facing the boy child and men, in the context of ensuring a world of gender equality.

Enough attention is not given to issues faced by the boy child and his development.
If only the boy child got enough of the necessary sensitization, orientation or awareness about his gender while growing up, the society would be more equal and balanced.

There's a lot of pressure from the society on the boy child. He's pressured to be physically and emotionally strong, and be the main income earner.
Boys and men are less likely to seek professional help or talk about their problems with friends or family because of the false assumption that they're supposed to man up every situation.
These and more are the problems faced by the boy child which this project is set to address.

On equal scale project is aimed at ensuring that the boy child is not left behind in the scheme of affairs.
More attention should be given to boys and men from low-income backgrounds, and those with lower levels of education.
