" I believe the experience of working with MCN and UNAI will help me gain new skills. I'm
looking forward to being part of a team that has already done so much to improve
lives while pushing forward the global agenda of sustainable development. They can offer me guidance and support as I work towards doing the same.
I plan on using all that I'll gain from this experience to carry out future and ongoing
projects more effectively and with clearer objectives and goals. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Green Thinkers: Child Focused Awareness
The major focus of the project is climate action and awareness, targeted towards younger children in more overlooked areas. The program works with community schools, setting up programs such as conservation clubs, upcycling programs, waste management, tree planting and nursery tending.
About the Millennium Fellow
Mayaba Habeenzu is a passionate environmental management and education student at the University of Zambia (Great East Road Campus). She has previously worked at and currently volunteers at a children's organisation. Though she identifies as someone who is inspired and moved by a myriad of things, her main drivers to action are child advocacy and environmental protection.
Foremost in her life aims is to live meaningfully and to do as much as possible to change the world around her, both in small and big ways. Mayaba hopes to do this by continuing to engage with and assist vulnerable children, pursue a career in environmental management and partake in projects that align with her goals, which are a reflection of important United Nations SDGs
