Millennium Fellowship Project: Social Impact at the University of Nairobi

The University of Nairobi's Millennium Fellowship cohort joined various SACCOs and Micro-Finance Institutions during this year's Savings week. As part of our Social Impact tour, we explored ways for these institutions partnering with us in advancing the SDGs. The event that took place at the Wakulima Market attracted many small-scale traders. We talked about how how the SACCO movement can support Young people by creating internships and offering decent work and economic growth for the entire society. On their part, the SACCOs shared the strategies they are using to end Poverty, alleviate hunger, and build sustainable cities and communities through their products.

About the Millennium Fellow

Beatrice Chakali is a self motivated, adjustable and flexible of the University of Nairobi, Kenya;Main Campus. She's in the fourth year of her undergraduate degree in Sociology and communication.
She has always had a dream of changing her society and the whole world a better place for everyone.
Seeing how girls and women in her society were diminished and would always not have a say in societal matters, she chose to work on SDG 5: Gender Equality, where she's sure by fighting for this everyone will be treated equally and also be sure to stand up for themselves.
All she needs is a strong support and she thinks MCN will be the right foundation for this.
