" I am very excited to join the Millennium Fellowship because by doing so I will be able to gain access to a global pool of knowledge, resources, mentorship and guidance from like minded individuals as well as
more opportunities to involve myself in global outreach programs which I can collaborate with so as to achieve a better outcome.
Resilience, dedication and my desire for success are some of the driving factors of my plan which aims to prevent further deterioration of the health status of members in my community. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Solving Resistance

Solving Resistance is a project that targets Antimicrobial Resistance. Due to the misuse and abuse of antibiotics in the treatment of various medical ailments, there has been a rapid increase in the number of superbugs resistant to available antimicrobial medicines. The rise of the problem is a result of microorganisms undergoing mutations and becoming resistant to already existing medicine that was effective before. Although this problem is not new, most members of the public are unaware and the dangers it poses.
Solving resistance project aims to create social awareness regarding the persistent problem while also providing solutions to curb its increase. It aims to educate the public on Antimicrobial resistance and what dangers it poses if it is not stopped. In addition, I also aim to offer solutions to members of the public which will address the issue of misuse and abuse of antibiotics such as; the methods one can use to identify if a condition is caused by a microorganism or not before they initiate treatment; medication one can use instead of antibiotics when self-medicating to treat common colds, cases of flu and other non-specific but common ailments; alternative medicines which can be used for both microbial and non-microbial infections without causing resistance.
