University of Nairobi | Nairobi, Kenya | Advancing SDG 8 & UNAI 3
" The vision of seeing an educated society that is vibrant and brings positive change to the world is what always drives me. All the social vices in my community such as FGM, tribal clashes, cattle rustling, nepotism, corruption, and even family breakage is directly or indirectly linked to the education level in the society. It is my dream and belief that education is the code to break the vicious cycle of these vices. Leadership is not only born but circumstances make one embrace the call to lead and influence his people to a better future.
Being a Millennium Fellow will allow me to exchange views with the various
leaders from across the globe and gain experience that focuses on building on what we have rather than starting from zero ground. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Social Impact at the University of Nairobi
The University of Nairobi's Millennium Fellowship cohort joined various SACCOs and Micro-Finance Institutions during this year's Savings week. As part of our Social Impact tour, we explored ways for these institutions partnering with us in advancing the SDGs. The event that took place at the Wakulima Market attracted many small-scale traders. We talked about how how the SACCO movement can support Young people by creating internships and offering decent work and economic growth for the entire society. On their part, the SACCOs shared the strategies they are using to end Poverty, alleviate hunger, and build sustainable cities and communities through their products.
