" Assertiveness, empowerment, evaluation and assessment, drive my work. Being part of Millennium Fellowship will enhance these skills collaboratively to ensure women's full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision making in political, economic and public life. The skills I gain from the Millennium Fellowship will make my social impact on women and girls more tangible and aligned with the UNAI principles and SDGs. I am excited to increase my anticipatory competence by envisioning new ways of learning and creativity. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: She Speaks Power

She Speaks Power is an independent project led by Millennium Fellow, Peris Nekoye. It addresses issues in line with ending all forms of discrimation against all women and girls everywhere. It aims at not only achieving balanced participation of women and men in political and public participation, but also combating gender stereotypes and sexism.

The project aims to engage with members of the University of Nairobi community (both students and faculty), and eventually the greater community, to reflect on issues through open discussion that simultaneously fosters a deeper appreciation for gender equality.

During the Millennium Fellowship period, She Speaks Power will host a minimum of four online events. These events will be a mix of open mics, workshops and roundtable discussions. I am aiming to reach to reach about 150 people combined across all events.
