" A culture of finding out a way where there seems to be none, just like my village roads of the future keeps me push to be a Millennium Fellow. This is a cohort of innovative young individuals who have great plans to make the world a liveable place, exactly what I want to be associated with. It is never easy to be part of such a reasonable cohort, my wish is to get to the improbable. Without defying the normalities, we cannot achieve the Sustainable goals for Development. I am bringing something new, an extraordinary mindset and approach to these problems. My solution on my own is not achievable, for this reason, am craving to be part of this great team to push my agenda. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Sustainable Food Waste Management

Am aiming at reducing the volume of solid waste by elimination of reusable foodwaste at the source. This is achieved by promoting the use of alternative carrier bags for the food waste as opposed to combining all the general solid waste in one collection. The isolated foodwaste is disposed as animal feed for pig farmers in Kibera. This cycle aims to lower the volume of solid waste to a significant amount

About the Millennium Fellow

Phelix Odhiambo Odero is a 22 year old young Student engineer at the University of Nairobi. Phelix was born in a dark village, Komolo in Homabay county. Yes, a green village without lights at night and any mentionable road. He is pursuing a course leading to award of a Bachelors degree in Civil engineering, his craving to make the world a better place to live. He also wants to open his village to the rest of the world. Driven by his passion to 'find out' he is working towards sustainable waste management. It is only when we understand how to manage our wastes that we will understand the basis of life, his main push on this. For this reason, he opted to join the rest of young Students for change globally through this a academic impact Fellowship. Indeed, the best thing ever discovered is to 'find out.'
