Millennium Fellowship Project: Mentally Legal
Mentally Legal; The Mentalholics!
It is okay not to be okay!
Mental health is the mental and emotional wellbeing of an individual. Just like parts of the body, the condition of the mental can also be damaged and deteriorate. However, the Stigma associated with this deterioration is what informs the motive behind the Mentally Legal project. As the mentalholics we believe, this being our dark side, it should be embraced rather than vilified.
We believe at this point a person is vulnerable and needs the utmost support and encouragement. That is why Mentally Legal is a safe space deemed at promoting the urge to embrace our vulnerable sides in as far as mental health is concerned. To address an issue, the root cause has to be established and dissected. Prevention entails avoidance of risks while promotion of mental health, helps an individual have a self acceptance urge and love themselves more. The Mentally Legal project focuses on the latter.
This project seeks to reverse the situation of mental health by raising awareness among people, by providing psychotherapies and counselling services support. It will further provide arts and life skills to enable affected individuals live meaningful lives by developing and accepting themselves, in line with SDG number 3 on healthy living. Further it seeks to promote awareness on the side effects of Stigma associated with mental health, since it is not the individual’s fault to be in such a condition. Nevertheless mental health affects us either directly or indirectly, hence we are either “infected” or affected.
Finally, the project seeks to promote accessibility to mental health treatment particularly for the students in the universities and persons of lower social economic status. The project will contribute to improvement in mental health literacy among individuals for a productive generation. Therefore we invite everyone to join us and enjoy the ride on mental health awareness and realise that every dark side has a light side.
