" Millennium Fellowship is the path to take to gain more knowledge, impart my skills, and be trained to be a man of character to lead and help others; to envision and act on platforms I am passionate about with and for the people. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Seeds of Hope
Project: Seeds of Hope is a campus project by the fellows from the University of the Philippines Baguio. It is a leadership training program that will equip student leaders with knowledge about certain SDGs and causes that will guide them to become next-generation leaders. This project aims to collaborate with experts to discuss some pressing issues and make relevant initiatives to address them. During the Millennium Fellowship period (August-December 2022), Seeds of Hope will tackle issues not limited to the following: Mental Health, Financial Management, and Invasive Species in Baguio City. Events for this project will be held online through webinars and face-to-face through leadership training activities; an outreach program at the end of the semester will also be conducted to mark the end of the fellowship. The project aims to cater to 50-100 people for the leadership training activities and 300 people for the webinars.
About the Millennium Fellow
John Polo Bernardo, born in the Philippines, is a simple student at the University of the Philippines Baguio, who dreams to be someone who not only shares his stories but also listens to and connects to people with different stories to tell as well as inspire others. He wants to contribute globally to platforms and/or advocacies for hunger and poverty to be able to reach out and help poor communities, which he has experienced in his province where his previous high school reached out to poor communities. He has leadership skills nurtured by his previous mentors in high school where he became the student council president for two consecutive years and is aware that he still has a long way to go and wants to learn and share his experiences and be able to contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Goals.
