" Being a part of the Millennium Fellowship is a privilege and a great opportunity for me to hone not only my leadership skills but also my logical and creative skills in collaboratively working with my other Fellows on a project that can have a social impact on our community. With this, it is a stepping stone in making our city, then our country, and soon the world to be a better place to live in. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Seeds of Hope

Seeds of Hope is a campus project by the fellows from the University of the Philippines Baguio. It is a leadership training program that will equip student leaders with knowledge about certain SDGs and causes that will guide them to become next-generation leaders. This project aims to collaborate with experts to discuss some pressing issues and make relevant initiatives to address them. During the Millennium Fellowship period (August-December 2022), Seeds of Hope will tackle issues not limited to the following: Mental Health, Financial Management, and Invasive Species in Baguio City. Events for this project will be held online through webinars and face-to-face through leadership training activities; an outreach program at the end of the semester will also be conducted to mark the end of the fellowship. The project aims to cater to 50-100 people for the leadership training activities and 300 people for the webinars.

About the Millennium Fellow

Maria Colline Angeli Viernes is a fourth-year student at the University of the Philippines Baguio. She is a servant leader, passionate to learn and work with other people who have goals and aspirations that align with hers. Ever since high school, she is an active leader leading groups and organizations that can help other people especially the youth in her community. One example of this is her experience in speaking about teenage pregnancy prevention both in Baguio City, where she was born and raised, through her school organization (Adolescent Health and Development Movers) and a non-government organization (Character Builder's Club) and in one of the high school in Mayoyao, Ifugao where she was invited to speak in 2017. She is also a humble person who is always ready to listen and ask for others' ideas and suggestions as well as to admit mistakes when she is wrong and not afraid to hear criticisms that are gates of opportunities for her and her group to have room for improvement. In addition, her cheerfulness and genuine personality are also bonus points that make her get along easily with other people.
