University of the Philippines Diliman | Quezon City, Philippines | Advancing SDG 4 & UNAI 5
" As a Millennium Fellow, I have the incredible opportunity to network with and learn from people from different backgrounds around the world. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to resources for these kinds of opportunities, especially those in marginalized communities. That is why I intend to apply the skills that I will gain from this program to create initiatives that will both strengthen my advocacy efforts in my country and encourage others to join the call for the right to quality education. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Eskwentuhan: A Fundraising and Storytelling Initiative
Project Eskwentuhan is a social impact project that aims to combat illiteracy by giving young learners access to learning and reading resources through a fundraising event, book donation drive, and workshops (including storytelling activities).
About the Millennium Fellow
Cher Casupanan is a passionate and determined student at the University of the Philippines Diliman, pursuing a bachelor's degree in political science. One of her main causes is to advance universal access to quality education because she believes it is a necessary component that allows people to gain the skills they need to benefit not only themselves but also the community. Her desire to pursue her causes in collaboration with like-minded individuals was fueled by the knowledge she gained in the classroom, the challenges she faced as a student, and the leadership opportunities she had in her organizations. In the future, she hopes to participate in more social justice campaigns and make a greater contribution to the development of laws that will progressively improve educational systems in her country and internationally.
