" My initiative is a way of giving back to the farming community where I grew up in. What farmers need today is probably more government funding and support. They probably need the Rice Tariffication Law repealed. While we continue to discuss what the best things are for our country, I will be here, using my talents and skills to the fullest to make a positive impact, no matter how small. "

A material from IRRI that talks about how to increase yield in rice was translated to three Filipino languages to make its knowledge more accessible.

About the Millennium Fellow

Terence was born to a farming family and community. He thinks farming was a productive venture back then when he was young because farmers sell rice at a reasonable price. They'd even celebrate the harvesting season by drinking rhum. Now he thinks that they are drinking because of the depressive state of farming in the country. He wants to help and hopes he can with his Millennium Fellowship initiative.
