" I am super excited to meet and collaborate with the other Fellows at my university and across the globe. I believe the strongest innovations happen when like-minded individuals work together, and so the Millennium Fellowship program seems to be the perfect outlet for social impact projects to flourish. I hope to not only learn and help with the projects of other Fellows, but also collaborate with them to expand the breadth of my own project about effective altruism! "

Millennium Fellowship Project: One for the World

One for the World is an organization designed to end extreme poverty through effective altruism. We work with GiveWell, which vets different charities to determine those that are the most effective with the resources they have, and encourage students to take the 1% pledge, which means committing 1% of their future income to these effective charities. For the upcoming semester, we hope to get 25 new pledges and continue to spread awareness about effective altruism!

About the Millennium Fellow

Aravind Viswanathan is a student in his junior year at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is currently majoring in neuroscience and plans to minor in Health Care Management. He was born in West Chester, PA and has spent much of his time working with volunteer organizations that give back to the community. Passionate about how to most effectively make the world a better place, Aravind hopes to raise awareness and fundraise the fight against extreme poverty through his project, all the while inspiring others to learn about effective altruism. In the future, Aravind plans to attend medical school and become a physician while still staying involved in social impact projects!
