" The Millennium Fellowship will provide me with the resources to continue my fight for justice for refugees, as well as a supportive community that has the power to create change for the collective good of people. I believe that young people are the change-makers of the world, and if we all work together, we can make extraodinary progress around the world as a team. Along with this, my greatest value in life is global education and collaboration, therefore the opportunity to brainstorm and take action in alliance with people from all over the world is life-changing for me. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Bridge to Ukraine

I would like to create some sort of platform (app or website) that refugees from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War could use for any support they need. This would include housing, jobs, schooling, food, or anything else that would aid them during these traumatic times. It would act as a social chat site where Ukranians could voice their needs and people could directly connect with them with aid. These refugees need help now, and there is a lack of infrastructure for them to get it quickly and efficiently, so I would create the foundation for these people to get the help they need.

About the Millennium Fellow

Leah Golubchik is from Los Angeles and is currently a student in the Huntsman Program at the University of Pennsylvania. She is studying Finance and International Studies and minoring in Russian Studies. She has always been passionate about aiding refugees, as both of her parents came to the US as political refugees from Poland and Ukraine. After founding a club in high school to raise awareness and directly aid refugees, she learned about how important this issue was, and unfortunately, how much people ignored that it even existed. With the current war in Ukraine and the outflux of millions of refugees forced to flee their homes, Leah hopes to create a platform that every refugee can access to get the help they need as efficiently as possible.
