" In an increasingly polarized world, the rights which are given to us merely by virtue of our humanity are largely jeopardized. Yet, throughout my activism work, I have come to realize how only through a collaborative effort can you truly make a difference. The Millennium Fellowship offers a novel opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, to engage in meaningful discussions, to learn and teach one another - using our own abilities, voices and privileges to turn our visions for the future into a reality. About the Millennium Fellow

Shriya Shah is a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania studying International Studies and Business in the Huntsman Dual Degree Program, and pursuing the Graduate Certificate in Human Rights from UPenn Law. She has a passion for making institutional human rights change in her community, particularly at the intersection of technology, disability rights & role of advocacy networks. She has fostered this through her position on the Youth Board of Directors of Amnesty International Canada, conducting migrant rights research for the Global Labor Justice Institute & delivering a TEDx talk on the Privilege of Movement. Shriya continued her work through the University of Pennsylvania Encompass Fellowship this summer, travelling to Palestine & Israel to investigate the geopolitical conflict from a human rights lens. Shriya believes that access to opportunity & empowering youth to grow as leaders, activists and visionaries is a fundamental part of societal growth - and aims to further exactly that through the Millennium Fellowship.
