About the Millennium Fellow

fdCYUBAHIRO Karangwa Verite is a medical student and young researcher at the University of Rwanda. He is a trainee at CRIMEDIM - Center for Research and Training in Disaster Medicine, Humanitarian Aid, and Global Health - Università del Piemonte Orientale pursuing a Disaster Medicine course (TdmT). He is the chair of InciSioN Rwanda, a forum of medical & anesthesiology students, young doctors, and surgical residents that works towards achieving timely access to safer surgical, anesthesia and obstetric care for everyone. He serves as the vice president of the Medical students’ association of Rwanda. He is passionate about global health-related issues including global surgery, equality and equity, quality service delivery, youth empowerment, and advocacy in tackling global health-related issues & etc. He pledges to advocate for equitable health care delivery for the most vulnerable people.

During his time at the University of Rwanda, he engages in multiple activities such as research projects, community outreaches, and awareness campaigns that aim at improving the well-being of people(community health) and awareness of the prevention of burden diseases. Affiliated with a number of organizations, he is a member of the InciSioN International Team 2022 Advocacy team and also IFMSA-MEDSAR (International Federation of Medical Students Association-Medical Students’ Association of Rwanda) and International Association of Student’s Surgical Societies(where he is the Africa chapter lead), Oli Health Magazine Organization(Education team). In his free time, he likes to read books, watch movies and debate with his friends.
