" Small steps and changes are stepping stones for bigger changes' is something I motivate myself with when I do any project that matches the UNAI principles or SDG goals. Through the Millennium Fellow I believe that I can turn all the small steps I've taken in my current capacity into the bigger changes I aim to achieve. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Green Clean Project

The Green Clean project is an idea I have come to through my field trips and tree planting events. When we go for tree planting, or other green activities we focus on doing that activity for instance when we go for tree planting we focus on planting trees and making sure they have water and all. However, I noticed that the places we plant trees usually have litter around them or plastic thrown around, and even when planting the trees there is a plastic wrap that is around these trees to hold the roots in the mud that we remove before planting. The idea of this project is to focus on those aspects of tree planting and other green activities that aim to benefit the environment. I want to partner with organizations that have the idea of tree planting and then go for those events and help clear up the area around where the trees are being planted and collect all the plastic from the wrapping of the trees being planted and properly dispose of them. I would further, provide the communities with proper disposal methods that include labeled bins that make littering less. This way I feel I will help combat two environmental issues and actually start making change.
