" I am passionate about women's rights and driven to empower young girls to accomplish more. I believe that so many young people don't have the platform to accomplish all that they have the potential for because of inaccessibility to the right resources and I want to change that. Becoming a Millennium Fellow will provide me with the opportunity to broaden my social impact and work with equally passionate and driven Fellows. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Drop
Drop is a period tracking application that is also a point of entry and a community. The point of Drop is to allow women to have control of their period tracking data but also to allow them to have a community where they can discuss their reproductive issues with each other and a platform for them to learn about period poverty and provide their donations to help the girls suffering with this plight.
About the Millennium Fellow
Michelle Oyiolo is an experienced software developer studying Applied Computer Technology at the United States International University in Nairobi, Kenya. She has always been passionate about women's and girls' rights and in combatting poverty. She was driven to combine her two passions to develop a mobile application that helps to raise funds and awareness for period poverty by doubling as a feminine health tracking application and a crowdfunding forum where women can discuss their experiences. Michelle has participated in a number of philanthropic activities and looks forward to using her skills and passion to have a meaningful positive impact on society.
