" The Millennium Fellowship's platform will allow me to bring awareness to the issues I’m passionate about including environmental awareness and animal welfare. Not only this, but I'm excited about the community of like-minded individuals that the Millennium Fellowship provides. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Act Now for Tomorrow

As natural disasters throughout America deeply impact many lives, there hasn’t been much positive change to fix and aid those who have been affected. The aftermath of the disaster such as deforestation, droughts, and destruction of many native species niches, have come together to degrade the environment. Whether through raising funds for distraught communities or spreading awareness pertaining to environmental issues, “Act Now for Tomorrow” will ensure that current and future generations have a better quality of life This group project, initiated by Ali Azzam, Emily León, and Navtej Dharmapuri Thirumala was inspired to revitalize communities that don’t have sufficient resources to rebuild following natural disasters.

About the Millennium Fellow

As a first-generation Mexican-American of a low-income household, Emily learned from a young age about the importance of hard work and determination. In hopes of paving the way for her family, Emily is pursuing a degree in biology at The University of Texas at San Antonio. As an aspiring veterinarian, her passion for protecting the animals that make up the Earth’s biodiversity is of great importance to her. In the future, she hopes to be working in wildlife rehabilitation, advocate for environmental change, and provide her family stability and a better quality of life.
