" I am very passionate about intersectional and sustainable approaches to various social dilemmas and marginalization. With the current rise of gender-based violence, I believe that there is so much potential to acquire resources and cultivate safe spaces and platforms that can change the way womxn are treated and seen in society, and especially how they see themselves. I am here because someone believed in me and my capabilities. I want to extend that belief to other people, which can then translate into them believing in themselves. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Siyanqoba

Under SDG4 our project seeks to highlight prevailing surrounding mental health. As university students we are profoundly challenged by our mental health. This experience often leaves us without the means and resources to navigate this space. We also recognise that there are other people who also do not have these means. While we do struggle with this, we recognise that there are available resources such as the CCDU to consult on this matter. Upon coming to this conclusion, we came to realise there are people who do not have access to such. Either, there are no safe spaces to turn to. Or often one does not have the jargon with which to talk about their endeavours. Moreover, they will also often lack the language and means with which to access this help. Thus in our project, we seek to create a comprehensive booklet that unpacks mental health in a digestible manner. Secondly, the booklet will include measures one can practise in order to help with their mental health. These measures strive to be cost-friendly and should be things that one can practise in any space and at any point in time.
