" I am excited to learn from the next generation of leaders and learn from the different experiences they have had in their different fieldworks. I believe that the Millennium Fellowship will have a major impact on my growth personally and as a leader by enhancing my creative and problem solving capabilities. This will help me to actively improve the systems we develop and make educating communities more efficient. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Health Education and Awareness
We are carrying a series of outreaches educating a very high density suburb called Epworth in Harare, Zimbabwe, about different health related topics. Our main focus initially was combating the rising use drug abuse amongst the youth, and we decided to advance our project into a health related project since we are all medical students. We educate the Epworth community in public gatherings, churches and clinics about topics like Hypertension, child immunization schedules, importance of Antenatal health care as well as drug abuse and awareness.
About the Millennium Fellow
Munesu Mawisire is a vibrate young lady who is very optimistic about the future and excited to make an impact in it. She is passionate about empowering different communities in ways that are most relevant to them. After being exposed to different cultures in Southern Africa, she believes that quality education means different things in different communities and wants to be part of a team that creates systems of continual learning and self improvement in all societies. One of Munesu's desires is that the general public becomes more active about their health by living wholesome lives, being aware of prevalent diseases and knowing the basic skills necessary for a medical emergency eg. CPR. She believes that this system will expand to educate other aspects of life other than health.
