Millennium Fellowship Project: Introducing the Concept of Drug Depository and Educating the Local Community about Antimicrobial Resistance
This project is mainly related with initiating the concept of drug depository in a local community. In addition with this, we were awaring people about the global pandemic of ANtimicrobial Resistance. Drug depository is a place where leftover drugs and antibiotics are collected to facilitate its reuse or safe and proper disposal. Nwadays, the practice of hapazhard disposal of leftover medicines and other chemicals in the environment is increasing whichis casing chemical toxicity to the environment as wekk as curbing the silent pandemics of antimicrobial resistance and transfer of resistance genes among bacteria due to repeated exposure of microbes with microbial. Thus, this project was initiated with an aim to minimize the haphazard disposal of antibiotics, drugs and chemicals directly to the environment as well as to aware the local people about the global pandemics of antimicrobial resistance.
About the Millennium Fellow
I am Kusum Sapkota ,an undergraduate veterinary student studying on Agriculture and Forestry University ,Nepal .I believe in research based study and being veterinary student I have interest on one health concept .I always feel one health concept is the need of sustainable society and my prime focus will be on this .Beside that ,I love interacting with people ,listen to them an share my story, my idea and vision. I have an experience of working as vice-president of ONE HEALTH NEPAL organization .I have quality to listen other people, address their problem and integrate their ideas and vision which I think is most needed quality of any leader
