Millennium Fellowship Project: Raise Together
The problem we aim to address is the unsustainable and wasteful practices surrounding plastic disposal and crop waste management within our community. Plastic wastes like jerry cans, plastic basins, and buckets are frequently discarded, leading to environmental pollution and burdening landfills. Simultaneously, crop waste from agricultural activities is often left unused or improperly disposed of, resulting in lost opportunities for resource utilization and potential environmental hazards. These inefficient practices contribute to a linear economy model that depletes natural resources, increases waste accumulation, and relies heavily on synthetic fertilizers. Therefore, there is an urgent need to transform these pr oblems into opportunities by implementing a circular economy approach that combines vertical vegetable cultivation using recycled plastic wastes and traditional organic fertilizer production, promoting sustainability, waste reduction, and local food resilience.
