Millennium Fellowship Project: innoyoungins
This project aims to provide access to digital tools and skills to children and teens between the age of 8-16 years in order to promote creativity, innovation, and experiential learning through a series of phases starting with basic digital literacy, scratch programming, hands-on robotics and a chance of upskilling to more advanced digital literacy skills like web design, graphic design, photography, entrepreneurship skills, etc.
About the Millennium Fellow
Cynthia Nekesa is an ambitious young leader with a deep passion for technology. Her areas of expertise include robotics, IoT, computer networking, technical support, sales, customer care, volunteering, and mentorship. She is currently pursuing an honors degree in Software Engineering but also possesses skills in Telecommunication and Information Engineering, where she has worked on automation projects. She envisions merging her technological expertise with her interests in education, climate change, agriculture, and women empowerment to drive positive change. Her professional experience includes working with diverse teams to improve services and products.
Cynthia has actively been engaged in initiatives such as the Student Energy Fellowship, FXB Climate Advocate, and various clubs and organizations. She has mentored students, reviewed projects, and volunteered for causes such as girl education, STEM enrichment programs, environmental conservation, and community development. She aims to create even more impact through her circular economy venture called AffordEnergy and social venture called DigiHub.
On the side, she has a keen interest in civic leadership, especially youth engagement. She has been a delegate in various forums and summits to represent the youth voices while also contributing to the U.N.'s Secretary General's reports through consultations and youth dialogues to foster youth inclusion in the S.D.G. agenda. She is a member of the European Business Chamber of Rwanda and loves nature.
